Andrew Modlin
Andrew Modlin (born March 22, 1987) is a Los Angeles based artist and one of the Managing Partners of MedMen, a consulting and management firm serving the licensing, design and management needs of the legal marijuana industry.
==Early Life==
Modlin was born in Los Angeles, California to Robert and Claudia Modlin. In 2005 Modlin graduated Harvard-Westlake, a co-educational college preparatory day school for grades 7-12.
==Education==
From 2005-2006 Modlin attended the Steinhardt School of Education, one of 18 schools and colleges that make up New York University. He returned to Los Angeles to continue his education at UCLA School of Art and Architecture where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2008.
==MedMen==
In 2010, Modlin founded MedMen in Los Angeles with Adam Bierman, his business partner and fellow entrepreneur. MedMen is a turnkey management company providing services for the cannabis industry.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.medmen.com )〕 It was launched to serve the emerging and rapidly expanding multibillion dollar legal marijuana market.
Since its inception, MedMen has helped more than 100 businesses in the U.S. navigate the complexities of entering and succeeding in the legal marijuana market, from effectively completing state applications to managing the day-to-day operations of a mature business. In 2014, it secured $3.75 million in financing to launch operations in Nevada and Illinois, funding which represented the largest capital investment at the time in a full-service cannabis management firm. In February 2015, MedMen obtained the state and local permits required to open a medical marijuana cultivation facility in Henderson, Nevada, marking the first full suite of licenses in that state for the company.
MedMen brings together expertise in three critical areas—licensing, design and management—to help businesses maximize their space and brand identity, and grow a legitimate and stable operation. The objective of the firm is to help ensure each business is following the proper legal and compliance procedures, but also meeting its potential in the areas of raising capital and securing financing, as well as with real estate, interior design, construction, security, staffing, marketing, graphic design, website design, and maintenance.
Modlin brings his multi-dimensional design expertise to MedMen, helping the legal marijuana industry reimagine the dispensary experience for patients. He has been instrumental in shepherding the industry through a design transformation by re-envisioning the layout of dispensaries—gravitating away from dark, confined spaces to embrace open, inviting reception areas. His youthful creativity, pixel-perfect attention to detail, propensity for maximizing the use of funds, and innovative approach to brand identity have not only helped create facilities that have improved the patient experience, but turn dispensaries into profit centers.
Andrew, who has extensive experience with build-outs for restaurants and health food businesses in California, is charged with designing and building out dispensaries, and also has worked exhaustively within the cultivation and production facilities. His design experience has helped him devise new methods of growing cannabis that more efficiently use systems and space for many different marijuana and traditional agriculture operators. He plays an integral role in designing production facilities where infused products are made, and in creating the national brand for those products. He has now helped set up over one million square feet of cultivation space and open more than 100 marijuana businesses. He also directs the financial modeling for production facilities across the country.
=== Time Magazine ===
Modlin and his business partner Adam Bierman were featured in the April 20, 2015 issue of Time Magazine. The article written by Eliza Gray, titled Dope Dreams covered the MedMen's journey from yogurt to marijuana and the success they have accomplished.
